After a wash-out at Eagle Farm Racecourse last weekend, the rescheduled Queensland Oaks 2016 has been added to the Stradbroke Handicap Day card on Saturday with Imposing Lass favourite to win.

A full field of 18 three-year-old fillies face off in this year’s $500,000 Group 1 Treasury Casino & Hotel Queensland Oaks (2400m), including the first emergency Provocative in place of early scratching Beluga Blue.

Drawn midfield in barrier 10, into eight with the rest of the emergencies out, is the early favourite Imposing Lass for Bjorn Baker at a current quote of $7.

The Makfi filly won the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) two back before a last start third at Doomben on May 21 in the Group 2 The Roses (2000m).

The Roses has produced four of the past five Queensland Oaks winners and a host of hopefuls back-up out of the Group 2 again this Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

Occupying the second line of Queensland Oaks betting at Ladbrokes.com.au at $7.50 to improve on a last start The Roses seventh is the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Falkenberg.

She is drawn a treat in barrier three, which last produced a Queensland Oaks winner with Vitesse Dane (2005) a decade ago, and is the best fancied for co-trainer Peter Snowden to win the race he took out in 2009 with Purple.

Following closely in the Queensland Oaks odds are the likes of Dawnie Perfect ($8.50), the aforementioned first emergency Provocative ($8.50) who is now assured of a run and Romantic Maid ($9).

Sydney’s Clarry Conners has won two past editions of the mile and a half classic with Zagalia (2003) and Allow (2006) and is back this season with Big Brown filly Dawnie Perfect.

She comes off a sixth in The Roses but has the outside alley (18 of 18) to overcome on Saturday, a gate no Queensland Oaks winner has jumped from in over 30 years.

Nicely-bred Zabeel filly Provocative is also drawn wide coming into 16 of 18 for her New Zealand trainer Tony Pike, the Kiwi raider last seen winning her first run in Australia at Ipswich over 2190m on May 18.

Romantic Maid is also a last-start winner and is over from New Zealand, the Roger James-trained daughter of High Chaparral having won at Randwick on May 18 over 2000m.

Also high up the updated Queensland Oaks markets are fillies including Robert Smerdon’s last start Group 3 SA Fillies Classic winner over 2500m in Adelaide Chabuad, the John O’Shea-trained Street Cry filly Ambience, Matthew Dunn’s The Roses winner Kebede after a double last achieved by Scarlett Lady (2011) and Team Snowden’s other best fancied hope Self Esteem.
